buildsavr.com is operated by Bâtir à Rabais inc. ("Buildsavr", "we"), a Quebec corporation duly incorporated and registered with the Registraire des entreprises du Québec, with its head office in Sainte-Julienne (Lanaudière, Quebec). Alexandre Pelletier and Simon Lafortune are its co-founders and directors. Buildsavr is the English-language brand of that company; batirarabais.ca is its French-language site.

The names and marks cited on this site — in particular RONA inc. (RONA, RONA+, Dick’s Lumber, Réno-Dépôt), The Home Depot Inc. and its Canadian subsidiaries, Canac-Marquis Grenier ltée, Groupe Patrick Morin inc., Groupe BMR inc. (a division of La Coop fédérée / Sollio Groupe Coopératif), Matério (Groupe Matério) and Home Hardware Stores Limited (Home Hardware, Home Building Centre) — are trademarks, registered or not, belonging to their respective owners. Buildsavr holds no licence, authorization or sponsorship from any of them.

Those marks are reproduced solely as factual reference within an independent, consumer-facing price-comparison service. This use (i) is not made "as a trademark" within the meaning of the Trademarks Act (R.S.C. 1985, c. T-13), (ii) is not intended to distinguish our services from anyone else’s, (iii) creates no confusion as to source, sponsorship or affiliation, and (iv) applies no mark to any product or its packaging.

Retailer names and, where applicable, logos may be displayed in their usual form, unmodified and at a uniform size, for the sole purpose of identifying the banner and helping you recognize each retailer quickly within a comparison. That display is nominative fair use: it implies no affiliation, sponsorship or authorization, and is not liable to depreciate the goodwill attached to those marks, since the service in fact sends customers to the retailers compared. No trade dress, product photography or other graphic material belonging to those retailers is reproduced. Any rightsholder who prefers that their logo no longer be displayed can write to legal@batirarabais.ca and we will remove it without delay.

Anyone who believes a particular use infringes their rights can write to legal@batirarabais.ca. We follow the rapid takedown procedure described under "Claims and takedown procedure" below.

Do you represent a retailer and want to stop appearing in our comparisons, or want your name or logo removed? Write to legal@batirarabais.ca and we will action the removal without delay.

Buildsavr is an independent service. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any of the retailers named on the site or in the app. No communication from Buildsavr should be interpreted as coming from one of those retailers, and no communication from those retailers is relayed through us unless explicitly stated.

Buildsavr sells no product or material directly and collects no payment on behalf of retailers. We provide information and comparison tools to help you make better purchase decisions. Every transaction is concluded directly between you and the retailer of your choice, on that retailer’s terms.

Product prices and availability come from publicly accessible retailer data. Prices are generally refreshed weekly and may not reflect real-time changes.

Buildsavr is not responsible for differences between the prices shown on the site or in the app and the prices actually charged in store or online. Always verify the final price directly at the point of sale before buying.

Prices published on buildsavr.com are factual data collected at a specific date and time, shown next to each price. They are presented for information only and are not an offer to sell, either from Buildsavr or from the retailers named.

In-store and online prices vary by branch, region, promotional period, applicable taxes, available stock and current flyers. Before any purchase, verify the displayed price directly with the retailer.

Every savings figure, price difference or ranking between retailers rests solely on the timestamped data used at the moment of the comparison. No absolute claim such as "the cheapest" or "always the best price" is made without a timestamp and a reference to the sources used. Buildsavr makes no representation, express or implied, as to the availability, quality or characteristics of the products offered by the retailers compared.

Buildsavr makes reasonable efforts to keep data accurate and current, but cannot guarantee its accuracy, completeness or durability. Any error reported to legal@batirarabais.ca is reviewed within 10 business days.

Displayed prices are facts, and facts are not protected by copyright (CCH Canadian Ltd. v. Law Society of Upper Canada, 2004 SCC 13). Buildsavr extracts and publishes factual elements only: price, unit, format, product code, survey date, and branch where applicable. The selection, arrangement and commentary produced by Buildsavr remain protected and remain its property.

Our sources include: weekly flyers published publicly by retailers; product feeds provided through authorized affiliate programs (notably Impact Radius and Amazon Associates); search-engine results obtained through third-party providers that comply with those engines’ terms; and manual surveys for quality assurance. Buildsavr does not reproduce retailers’ photography, editorial descriptions, page layouts, complete databases or trade dress. No framing and no embedding of third-party-hosted product images is performed without a licence.

Some outbound links are affiliate links that may earn Buildsavr a commission at no additional cost to you. That commission does not influence the ranking of comparison results, which follows the criteria described under "Automated decisions".

Person designated as responsible for the protection of personal information at Bâtir à Rabais inc.: Simon Lafortune, co-founder and director, simon@batirarabais.ca. A register of confidentiality incidents is kept under section 3.8 of the Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (CQLR, c. P-39.1, "Law 25"). In case of an incident presenting a risk of serious injury, affected users and the Commission d’accès à l’information will be notified without delay.

Legal basis: Bâtir à Rabais inc. is subject to Law 25 and to the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA, S.C. 2000, c. 5), depending on where the user resides.

Data collected: email address (required for the waitlist and product communications), optional profile (homeowner, contractor or retailer), preferred language, signup source, timestamp, truncated IP address and browser type for security and aggregate statistics. No password is stored: authentication happens through a magic link sent by email.

Purposes: announcing the beta opening, sending product newsletters the user consented to, segmenting by profile to adapt content, improving the service, preventing fraud and meeting legal obligations. No data is sold, rented or traded, and no data is used for third-party targeted advertising.

Hosting and transfers outside Quebec: the database is hosted with Supabase in a Canadian region (ca-central-1). Some delivery components (the Vercel CDN) may route requests through the United States. A privacy impact assessment was carried out under section 3.3 of Law 25; it concludes that the contractual and technical safeguards offered by those providers (encryption in transit and at rest, standard contractual clauses, SOC 2 certifications) ensure a level of protection equivalent to the one required in Quebec.

Retention: inactive account — automatic anonymization after 24 months without a sign-in; marketing list data — until unsubscribe, then 3 years as proof of consent; technical logs — 12 months. Any request for earlier deletion is handled within 30 days at most.

Rights of data subjects: access, correction, withdrawal of consent, de-indexing, portability and deletion. To exercise a right: simon@batirarabais.ca. No advertising or tracking cookie is placed on visitors’ devices. The only cookies used are strictly necessary for the site to work, in particular the Supabase authentication session when you are signed in to your account. Those cookies are exempt from prior consent under the practice of the Commission d’accès à l’information.

We use PostHog, configured in cookieless mode (person_profiles: identified_only), to measure aggregate site usage. Even in cookieless mode, PostHog may process the IP address and user agent; that data is processed on the basis of Buildsavr’s legitimate interest in improving its service, with a right to object by writing to simon@batirarabais.ca.

The ranking of comparison results is produced by an algorithm that considers, among other things, the lowest timestamped price, declared availability, the distance estimated from the postal code you provide, and how fresh the data is. Some product-disambiguation scenarios use a language model provided by Anthropic (Claude) with prompt templates maintained by Buildsavr.

Under section 12.1 of Law 25, anyone subject to a decision based exclusively on automated processing may ask what personal information was used, what main factors led to the decision, and may ask for a human to review it. Requests go to simon@batirarabais.ca.

The text, guides, comparisons, graphics, layouts, illustrations and source code published on buildsavr.com are protected by copyright and belong to Bâtir à Rabais inc., unless stated otherwise (sources are cited at the foot of each guide). Any reproduction for commercial purposes, even partial, is prohibited without prior written permission.

Since price data are facts, Buildsavr claims no ownership over them and permits their free reuse, provided they are not presented in a way likely to create confusion with Buildsavr or with the retailers it lists.

Quoting short excerpts of our editorial content with attribution and a link back to buildsavr.com is permitted in a non-commercial context.

By using this site you accept these terms. Buildsavr reserves the right to modify, suspend or withdraw all or part of the service at any time, in particular for maintenance, updates, compliance or commercial restructuring. Changes take effect on publication.

You agree to use the service for legitimate personal or professional purposes, not to harm the security or integrity of the site, not to attempt unauthorized access to systems and accounts, not to extract data in bulk by automated means, and not to republish Buildsavr’s editorial content for commercial purposes without permission. Public search-engine crawlers (Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo and others) are expressly permitted, subject to robots.txt.

Access to Buildsavr’s paid features is offered by subscription, billed by Stripe. A monthly subscription is a contract of indeterminate term; an annual subscription is a fixed-term contract of twelve (12) months. Both renew automatically at the end of the term. You can cancel the renewal at any time from your account, free of charge; cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid for, during which your access is maintained.

Subscriptions, monthly and annual alike, are non-refundable. You can cancel at any time, with no fee or penalty, and you keep full access until the end of the period already paid for. No amount is refunded for the unused portion of that period.

The Self-build pass is a one-time purchase. It is fully refundable within 14 days of purchase if no comparison has been used; from the first comparison onward, it is final.

The comparisons included in your plan are allocated per billing period. Comparisons left unused in a period are neither carried over nor refundable.

To cancel, or for any billing question, write to hello@batirarabais.ca. These provisions apply subject to the mandatory rights the Consumer Protection Act (CQLR, c. P-40.1) grants consumers; no clause may be read as a waiver of those rights.

To the extent permitted by law, in particular articles 1474, 1475 and 1437 of the Civil Code of Québec, Buildsavr cannot be held liable for purchase decisions, financial losses or other material harm resulting from errors, omissions, inaccuracies or delays in the data displayed. No limitation applies in case of bodily or moral injury, or in case of gross or intentional fault.

Users who are consumers within the meaning of the Consumer Protection Act (CQLR, c. P-40.1) keep every right that Act grants them. No clause here may be read as a waiver of those rights, including the right to sue and the right to bring or join a class action under section 11.1.

Buildsavr gives no warranty, express or implied, as to the quality, safety, origin, availability or conformity of the products offered by the retailers listed. Any claim about a product must be addressed directly to the retailer concerned.

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not warrant uninterrupted, secure or error-free service, nor that the information displayed is accurate, complete or current at all times. We are not responsible for decisions taken on the basis of information displayed on the site or in the app, nor for differences between the prices we display and actual in-store prices.

To the extent permitted by law, and subject to the mandatory consumer rights under the Consumer Protection Act, Buildsavr’s total liability to you, all causes combined, will not exceed the amount you paid for the service in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

Under the Charter of the French Language (CQLR, c. C-11) as amended by Bill 96, this site and its commercial publications are available in French. This English version is offered for convenience; in case of any discrepancy in interpretation between the two versions, the French version prevails and is available at batirarabais.ca/mentions-legales.

The parties to any contract concluded on this site declare that they have expressly required that the present notice and any ancillary contract, notice or document be drawn up in French. Les parties ont expressément exigé que les présentes mentions ainsi que tout contrat, avis ou document accessoire soient rédigés en français.

Any natural or legal person who believes that content published on buildsavr.com infringes their rights — trademark, copyright, privacy, unfair competition, defamation or other — may submit a reasoned request to legal@batirarabais.ca stating: (1) their identity and contact details, (2) the content at issue with its URL, (3) the legal basis invoked, and (4) a good-faith statement about the alleged infringement.

Buildsavr undertakes to acknowledge any request within 48 business hours and to review each file within 10 business days at most. Content subject to a prima facie serious claim may be taken down as a precaution during the review, without that removal amounting to an admission of liability.

This legal notice is governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec and by the federal laws of Canada applicable therein.

Subject to the mandatory consumer rights set out in particular in section 11.1 of the Consumer Protection Act, the forum for any dispute is the judicial district of Joliette, Province of Quebec. Nothing here deprives a consumer of the right to bring a claim before the court of their own domicile, or to bring or join a class action.

If any provision here is held invalid, illegal or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions stay in full force.
