Terms of use

These terms of use govern access to buildsavr.com, to the web application and to any related service operated by Bâtir à Rabais inc. By accessing the service, creating an account or using any of its features, you acknowledge that you have read, understood and accepted these terms.

Buildsavr is a brand of Bâtir à Rabais inc. ("Buildsavr", "we"), a Quebec corporation duly incorporated and registered with the Registraire des entreprises du Québec, with its head office in Sainte-Julienne (Lanaudière, Quebec). Alexandre Pelletier and Simon Lafortune are its co-founders and directors. If you are acting on behalf of a business, you represent that you have the authority to bind that business.

Buildsavr is an independent price-comparison service for construction and renovation materials in Quebec. The service displays, with a stated date and time, prices collected from public sources (flyers, affiliate feeds, search-engine results obtained through authorized providers) and from manual surveys.

Buildsavr is not a hardware store, does not sell materials, and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the retailers it compares. No communication from Buildsavr should be interpreted as coming from any of those retailers.

Creating an account requires a valid email address. Authentication happens through a magic link sent by email or through a third-party identity provider (Google or another). You are responsible for the security of your mailbox and for any access you delegate to your account.

You agree to provide accurate information, to keep it up to date and to notify us without delay of any unauthorized use. Buildsavr may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms or that presents a risk to the service or to its other users.

You agree to use the service for legitimate personal or professional purposes connected to construction or renovation projects, and to comply with applicable law, including the Quebec Consumer Protection Act.

The following are prohibited: bulk extraction of data by automated means (scraping, crawling) outside the public indexing robots allowed by our robots.txt; commercial republication of our editorial content without written permission; any attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems, accounts or data; any use intended to harm the security, integrity or availability of the service; and any use intended to mislead a third party about the origin of the service.

Displayed prices are timestamped factual data shown for information only. They are not an offer to sell, either by Buildsavr or by the retailers named. Prices vary by store, region, current promotion, taxes, stock and refresh delay.

Before any purchase, you must verify the price, availability and specifications of the product directly with the retailer. Buildsavr cannot be held liable for a purchase decision based on inaccurate or out-of-date data. Announced savings rest solely on the data used at the moment of the comparison.

Descriptions, formats, dimensions, product codes and images come from retailers’ public sources and are shown for information only. They may be incomplete, out of date or contain errors, and they do not replace the retailer’s official product page. Where the two disagree, the retailer’s information at the time of purchase governs.

Buildsavr uses artificial-intelligence models to read your materials list, to read the photos and receipts you send us, to match each item to the right product, to organize the comparisons and to power the intake assistant. These operations help prepare your buying plan, but they remain automated estimates.

Models can be wrong: matching an item to the wrong product, misreading a quantity or a format, keeping a stale price, or misinterpreting a request. The buying plan, the product matches and the savings we announce are therefore provided for information only and are neither professional advice, nor a price guarantee, nor a firm purchase recommendation. Before buying, you must verify the product, format, quantity, price and availability directly with the retailer.

Buildsavr provides no engineering, construction, safety or building-code compliance advice. For any project where the wrong material could affect safety or compliance, consult a qualified professional. Your recourse for an incorrect match remains governed by our receipt-backed savings guarantee and by the limitation of liability section below.

The text, guides, comparisons, graphics, layouts, illustrations, logos and source code published by Buildsavr are protected by copyright and belong to Bâtir à Rabais inc. unless stated otherwise. Any reproduction for commercial purposes, even partial, is prohibited without prior written permission. Quoting short excerpts with attribution and a link back to buildsavr.com is permitted in a non-commercial context.

Third-party retailer trademarks (RONA, Home Depot, Canac, Patrick Morin, BMR, Matério, Home Hardware and others) remain the property of their respective owners and are cited only as factual reference, without logos or commercial styling. See the legal notice for details.

Buildsavr offers an MCP server that lets you connect an AI assistant to the comparison engine. That access is reserved for your personal use or for the internal needs of your own business, under the same conditions as the site: every revealed comparison is counted against the connected account’s plan, and your plan limits apply in full.

Any other use requires our prior written permission. That includes: embedding our price comparisons, our price data or our catalogue into an application, site, software, extension or product intended for third parties; reselling, redistributing, rebroadcasting or displaying that data to your own customers or users, free or paid; building a derived database; and using that data to build, feed or train a competing service. Without our written permission, these uses are not allowed.

Commercial-use and integration requests go to partenaires@batirarabais.ca. We may grant, refuse or condition any permission, and we may revoke an application client’s or an account’s access at any time if it breaches this section, without notice where the security or integrity of the service is at stake.

Sharing your access tokens with a third party, embedding them in a product distributed to third parties, and circumventing quotas, rate limits or authentication are prohibited. You remain responsible for all activity carried out through the access issued to your account, and you can revoke a connected application at any time from your settings.

You keep ownership of the lists, photos, receipts and other content you upload to the service. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide and revocable licence to host, store, process and display that content for the sole purpose of providing the service to you (reading your list, comparing prices, saving your project).

You warrant that you hold the necessary rights to that content and that it does not infringe third-party rights. We may remove any content that breaches these terms or the law.

We do not train AI models on your content, and we neither sell nor rent it to third parties. The AI models we use process your content only for as long as it takes to produce your buying plan. Details on our subprocessors, hosting, and your rights under Quebec’s Law 25 and under PIPEDA are in the privacy policy.

Some features are reserved for paid plans. Current prices, quotas and subscription conditions are described on the Pricing page. Payments are processed by a third-party provider (Stripe). Buildsavr does not store your card numbers.

Unless stated otherwise, subscriptions renew automatically at the chosen interval until cancelled. The consumer rights set out in the Quebec Consumer Protection Act apply in full.

Subscriptions, monthly and annual alike, are non-refundable, except for the cases set out in our refund policy (including an annual subscription paid by mistake): you can cancel at any time and you keep your access until the end of the period you have already paid for. To the extent permitted by law, in particular articles 1474, 1475 and 1437 of the Civil Code of Québec, Buildsavr cannot be held liable for purchase decisions, financial losses or other material harm resulting from errors, omissions, inaccuracies or delays in the data displayed. No limitation applies in case of bodily or moral injury, or in case of gross or intentional fault.

Users who are consumers within the meaning of the Consumer Protection Act keep every right that Act grants them. No clause here may be read as a waiver of those rights, including the right to sue and the right to bring or join a class action under section 11.1 of the Act.

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". We give no warranty, express or implied, as to the quality, safety, origin, availability or conformity of the products offered by the retailers listed. Any claim about a product must be addressed directly to the retailer concerned.

Buildsavr may modify, suspend or withdraw all or part of the service at any time, in particular for maintenance, updates, compliance or commercial restructuring. These terms may also change; the date of the last update appears at the top of this page. Significant changes will be announced by email or through a prominent notice on the site.

You can close your account at any time by writing to hello@batirarabais.ca or through your account settings. Buildsavr may suspend or terminate an account in case of a breach of these terms, fraudulent use, or a legal obligation. The sections on intellectual property, limitation of liability, governing law and forum survive termination.

Under the Charter of the French Language, the service and its commercial publications are available in French. This English version is offered for convenience; in case of any discrepancy in interpretation, the French version prevails and is available at batirarabais.ca/conditions. The parties expressly declare that they have required that the present terms, and any ancillary contract, notice or document, be drawn up in French. Les parties ont expressément exigé que les présentes conditions et tout document accessoire soient rédigés en français.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec and by the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Subject to the mandatory consumer rights set out in section 11.1 of the Consumer Protection Act, the forum for any dispute is the judicial district of Joliette, Province of Quebec. Nothing here deprives a consumer of the right to bring a claim before the court of their own domicile, or to bring or join a class action.

If any provision here is held invalid, illegal or unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in full force.
