MCP server

Your AI assistant, plugged into our prices

Paste this line into your terminal. Your assistant can then find a material and compare its price across retailers without you leaving the conversation.

Free accounts welcome

A free account is enough to connect your assistant, with 5 comparisons a month, the same ones as on the website. Paid plans give you more.

claude mcp add --transport http -s user batirarabais https://batirarabais.ca/api/mcp

1. Paste the command

No key to generate, no file to edit. The same line works for everyone.

2. Connect your account

On first use your browser opens on batirarabais.ca. Sign in with the account you already have, approve, and you are done.

3. Ask for a price

For example: "Compare the price of 2x4x8 spruce" or "Which retailer is cheapest for 5/8 drywall?"

What your assistant can do

What it uses up

Exactly the same as on the website: one product whose prices you look up equals one comparison from your plan. Searching, listing retailers and checking your quota cost nothing. Your assistant cannot go past your plan.

Permitted use

The MCP server is offered for your personal use or for the needs of your own business, exactly like the website. Connect your assistant, compare your materials, build your buying plans.

Any other use requires our prior written authorization. This includes in particular:

Without our written authorization, it is not permitted. Have a commercial project in mind? Write to partenaires@batirarabais.ca and we will gladly look at it.

Other assistants

Any client that speaks MCP over HTTP works. Point it at the address below and it will discover how to sign you in on its own.

https://batirarabais.ca/api/mcp

If the "localhost" page does not open

After you approve, your browser returns to an address starting with localhost. That is your assistant itself listening, on your own computer, just long enough to finish the connection. If it stopped listening, the page stays blank or shows an error. Nothing is lost: copy that page’s full address and paste it back into your assistant, and the connection completes on its own.

The easiest way to avoid it: sign in to your Buildsavr account before running the command. Approving then takes two seconds instead of however long signing in takes.

Technical reference

For developers and assistant platforms. Your MCP client already receives the list of tools and their parameters when it connects. This section makes it readable.

Errors

A tool error comes back as a result flagged isError, never as an HTTP error, so your assistant can read the reason back to you.

  • quota_exceeded: no comparisons left for the period. Nothing is looked up or charged.
  • Product not found: no comparison is used (charged: 0). Run search_materials again.
  • use_browse_vitrine: compare_prices on a showcase points to browse_vitrine, without using anything.
  • 401 with no token or an expired one: your client restarts the sign-in on its own.
