Refund policy

You can use Buildsavr without paying and without a credit card. The free plan gives you a set number of comparisons every month, with no time limit. That is how you check the tool suits you before taking out your card.

The Builder Homeowner and Builder Pro plans add a free trial of 7 days. A credit card is required to start the trial, but nothing is charged during those 7 days: Buildsavr gives you the trial period at $0 so you have time to cancel. You get a reminder email at least 1 day before it ends.

By starting the trial, you agree to be billed when it ends unless you have cancelled. If you cancel before the trial ends, you are never billed. If the trial runs its course, the first payment is taken and the rules below apply. The trial exists precisely so you decide before you pay: use it.

Monthly subscriptions are non-refundable.

You can cancel at any time from your account, free of charge, with no penalty and without writing to us. Cancelling stops the renewal: you keep full access until the end of the month already paid for, then your account returns to the free plan.

No amount is refunded for the unused part of the month, or for a month already started.

Annual subscriptions are non-refundable, except for a payment you did not intend (see the next section).

The annual rate is offered at a substantial discount against twelve months at the monthly rate. It is a twelve-month commitment paid up front, and that is exactly what makes the discount possible.

You can cancel the renewal at any time from your account. You keep full access until the end of the twelve months already paid for, then your account returns to the free plan. No amount is refunded for the remaining months.

If you subscribe again later, the rate shown at that time applies, and it may differ from the one you had.

Sometimes an annual subscription goes through when you did not want it: a wrong click at checkout, a renewal you thought you had cancelled. We do not leave you stuck with that. This section covers annual subscriptions only.

On the day of the transaction: our policy provides a refund only on the same day as the transaction. If you write to us before midnight (Quebec time) that day, we refund eleven of the twelve months paid and bill you only for the current month, at the regular monthly rate of the same plan.

From the day after the transaction up to 14 days after: the amount is no longer refunded, but you have two options, your choice. Transfer: we move your whole subscription to someone else’s account, a relative who is renovating, a colleague, a contractor. You give us their email and we handle it. Pause: we freeze your subscription and put twelve months of access in credit on your account. The day a new project starts, you tell us, we reactivate it, and your twelve months begin then.

More than 14 days after the transaction: no refund, no transfer and no pause. The rules in the "Annual subscription" section apply.

To take up either option, write to hello@batirarabais.ca from the email address on your account, stating the date of the transaction.

The Self-build pass is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. There is nothing to cancel and nothing that renews.

It is fully refundable within 14 days of purchase, on one condition: no comparison must have been used. From your first comparison onward, the pass is final and no longer refundable.

To request that refund, write to hello@batirarabais.ca from the email address on your account.

The comparisons included in your plan are allocated per billing period. Those you do not use are neither carried over to the next period, nor exchangeable, nor refundable.

Our prices come from retailers’ own sites and they move fast. If you buy according to your buying plan and the price you pay in store does not match the one we showed you, we credit you back.

How to claim: write to hello@batirarabais.ca from the email address on your account, attach a photo of your receipt and tell us which project it concerns. We credit the affected comparisons back to your account. The credit is in comparisons, not in money.

Conditions: claim within 14 days of purchase; a legible receipt showing the retailer, the date and the product; the same retailer and the same product as the ones in your buying plan; one claim per billing period.

Excluded: clearance, floor-model sales, damaged or second-hand items, special orders, prices negotiated in store, and prices reserved for trade accounts.

If you were charged twice, charged after cancelling, or charged because of a technical error on our side, write to us and we refund you in full.

That case is not covered by the rules above. It is not a refund, it is a mistake, and we fix it.

Sign in, go to Settings, click Manage your plan, then Manage my subscription. That takes you to Stripe’s secure billing portal, where you cancel yourself in one click. You then get a confirmation by email.

If you cannot cancel on your own, write to hello@batirarabais.ca before your renewal date and we will handle it. We answer within 24 to 48 business hours.

The rules on this page apply subject to the rights the Consumer Protection Act (CQLR, c. P-40.1) grants Quebec consumers. No clause on this page may be read as a waiver of those rights.
